Winter 2026 Quarterly Crossroads
The Quarterly Crossroads is a quarterly newsletter of leadership updates, school highlights, student stories, news and upcoming events for the School of STEM.

UW Bothell is buzzing with activity as we look toward the future. We have been hosting several finalists for faculty searches, continuing to build our nationally recognized STEM faculty and expand the expertise that drives our impact. The campus community, alongside our alumni and community partners, has been providing valuable feedback to inform a new UW Bothell strategic plan for the next 3-5 years. As chair of this committee, I have been in many of these conversations and am inspired by the passion and care our community brings to imagining what comes next.
All the while, we continue to come together to serve students in our community by offering exceptional programs, hands-on experiential learning opportunities and support that contribute to a transformational education. Our Grow into STEM seminar series also continued this quarter, bringing industry leaders and alumni to campus to share their experiences and inspire students along their STEM pathways.
Throughout this newsletter, you’ll find a common theme: students who are working to make a difference in our communities, pushing boundaries through research and innovation, and discovering the power of mentorship. While we’re proud of the regional impact we make together, many of these stories show how far our reach extends — across the country and around the world.
Discover stories from innovation in app development and Physics research leading to co-authored papers to study abroad experiences in Rwanda and conference presentations in Brazil sparking job opportunities, these stories represent just a glimpse of the incredible work happening across our STEM community.
As dean, I couldn’t be more excited to highlight the collective impact of our STEM community and the incredible momentum you all continue to build.
Wishing you all the best as we head into spring quarter,
– Jennifer McLoud-Mann, dean and professor
