Dr. Milagros Loreto and Dr. Thomas Humphries led the National Research Experience for Undergraduates Program (NREUP), which received funding from the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) between May 2018 and January 2019.

This program aimed to empower minority and underrepresented students at UW Bothell to pursue graduate studies in mathematics. For this initiative, Dr. Loreto recruited six students and formed two summer research groups.
