I-20 Funding
To receive your I-20, you must demonstrate sufficient resources to cover the estimated cost of attendance for one academic year, including:
- Tuition and fees
- Living Expenses
- Health Insurance
Minimum Financial Support Amounts
Amounts are reviewed annually and are typically updated each July.
Undergraduate Students
- Non-Resident: $73,409
- WA Resident: $42,609
Graduate Students
- Accounting: $51,491
- Computer Science & Software Engineering: $59,573
- Education: $64,028
- Electrical & Computer Engineering: $61,433
- Business: $64,013
- Policy Studies: $64,028
Students who will bring a spouse and/or children as a dependent must provide additional proof of funding:
- Additional required amount: $10,150 per dependent
- This amount represents an additional 35% of estimated living and other expenses for each dependent.
Financial Documentation Requirements
All financial documents must:
- Be an original PDF or a clear scanned image
- Be dated within the past 3 months
- Be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation from the issuing bank, credit union, or lender
- Clearly show the account holder’s name
- Fewer than 6 pages
Do not Submit
- Photographs of documents
- Printed web pages from online banking portals
- Screenshots that do not contain required account information
Acceptable Financial Support Documents
Bank or Credit Union Statements and Letters
Documents Must:
- Be from a personal or family checking, savings, or money market account
- Be on official bank or credit union letterhead
- Include:
- Date issued
- Type of account
- Currency
- Account holder name
Secondary Criteria (One or More Preferred Supporting Elements)
Documents should include a combination of the following:
- Account holder address
- Financial institution name
- Financial institution address
All bank letters must be signed by a bank or credit union official.
Certificates of Deposit (CDs) and Fixed Deposits
Documents must:
- Show available cash value
- Indicate the funds can be withdrawn
Fixed-Term Certificates of Deposit and Bonds
Documents must:
- Mature or become available on or before the program start date
Certified Educational Loans and Private Student Loans
Documents must:
- Be fully approved and not conditional
- Be available by the program start date
If loan requires course enrollment, ISS may temporarily remove the ISS registration hold to allow enrollment. All other registration holds remain in place and must be resolved with the issuing office. Additional information about private student loans can be found here.
Scholarship Awards and Financial Guarantees
Documents must:
- Not be conditional
- Be available by the program start date

Documents should:
- Match the student’s program of study
- Match the student’s passport number listed on the document
