The Office of Connected Learning fosters high-impact experiences that contribute to innovative and influential teaching, learning, and research. A commitment to connected learning builds greater capacities for students, staff and faculty to connect theory to practice, exercise adaptive leadership skills across novel settings, and embrace the multiple contexts we all bring to our work. It recognizes that our ideas, discoveries, research, and institutional successes result from the relationships and human ecosystems that feed them.
UW Bothell is distinguished by its focus on connected learning and crossdisciplinary research, scholarship and creative practice.

WSECU Financial Lock Box Challenge – Dec 6

In the Collaboratory, Disc 152, Dec 6, 11am-1pm.
So you want to buy a car?
In the Financial Lock Box Challenge students are asked to help their friend John figure out his finances and ultimately help him decide if he should buy a car. John started a new job about four months ago, and he is currently taking the bus to and from work every day. However, the bus routes are soon changing and the new routes will add significant commute time to his day. John is asking the students to go through his financial paper work, such as his budget, credit card statement, and credit reports. He needs their help to make a smart financial decision when it comes to buying a car. Making this task more complicated, John has locked up his financial documents in four different lock boxes and has somehow misplaced the combinations. John knew this would probably happen to him, so he left clues to help him later open the boxes. It is the students’ task to figure out these clues and combinations. By working together, they can review John’s finances and in the end, advise him on whether it is smart for him to buy a car at this time.
