Rodrigo on mentorship
As a first-generation college graduate, I had to figure things out on my own. My parents didn’t know much about what it was like going to college, they didn’t understand why it cost so much, they didn’t have the means to help me much, and I had to rely on finding things on my own. Along the way, I found people who had gone to college and they were a huge help in answering questions, and helping me think through some of the classes, internships and full-time employment. I’m thankful for the help I received from mentors along the way and I am excited for the opportunity to give back.
Some topics I’m excited to mentor students in include:
- How to think about classes
- How to network efficiently
- How to think of internship and FT employment opportunities
- What is like to have a family while going to school
- Business Leadership, Strategic Management, and Communications
- Human Resources
- Good to Great by Jim Collins
- Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
