Parents and Family Engagement
The University of Washington Bothell believes that students’ positive transition to our institution is a partnership between the student, the university, and the students’ support system. That is why Orientation & Transition Programs offer Parent & Family Orientation programs. This uniquely designed program provides parent and family members with resources they can use to support their students transition to their first quarter at the university. You will learn about the many resources and services as well as the logistics of financial aid and paying tuition. In addition, you will get tips on how they can support their student while they face the rigors of a university education
This year, we have several opportunities for you to connect with resources and information about UWB Bothell. To register for a session, please click on the event date and then ‘register’

Parent & Family Orientation Overview
Academic Overview & Discovery Core | Hear from faculty leaders and Academic Advisors in the First Year & Pre-Major Program about the exciting seminar course called the Discovery Core, where your student will develop crucial skills for college success, explore academic interests, and build campus relationships during their first year at UW Bothell
Relationships Matter | Parents and students are both navigating new roles which include taking on some new responsibilities and letting go of others. The Counseling Center and Registrar staff will review how you can continue to have an active and supportive role with your student while “letting go” and supporting their launch to increased independence and responsibility.
Student Fiscal Services | Navigating the financial responsibilities of college can be daunting. Student Fiscal Services will provide information about the student tuition statement, meeting privacy requirements, and tips to assist and support your student throughout their college years
Understanding FERPA | Connect with the Office of Registrar to learn about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and how this will impact your role and access to your students’ academic record
