Setting up Your UW Email
Don’t miss out on important UW information! Oftentimes, faculty and staff will only respond to emails that come from your “@uw.edu” address.
UW offers two, cloud-based email services. Follow these instructions to activate your UW Email and review the UW-IT Student Quick Start Guide for helpful information as you transition to the UW.
Email Forwarding Options
UW Office 365
UW Exchange Online offers HIPAA-compliant
email and calendaring.
Forward to UW Exchange Online.
UW Google
UW Gmail is free of advertising and has greater privacy protections than consumer Gmail.

Can I Forward my Email to my Personal Account?
Please do not forward your UW email to a personal email account.
When you activate your UW Office 365 or UW Google account, you’ll have the option to manage your email forwarding. Faculty and staff are instructed to respond only to “@uw.edu” addresses. If you forward your UW email to a personal account, you may not receive emails, and your replies will come from your personal email address. You can update your UW email forwarding settings at any time.
Where do I Check my UW Email?
Once you activate your UW Email, you can access it through MyUW or go directly to a Gmail Login or Outlook Login and enter your “NetID@uw.edu” email address.
