Bomb Threat

What is the situation?

You receive a call, email or letter telling you a bomb has been placed on campus.

What should I do?

If it is a telephoned threat:

  • Attempt to get as much information as possible about the caller (male or female, accent, etc.).
  • Try to get the exact location where the bomb has been planted, or is going to be planted.
  • Listen for any background noise that may indicate the location of the caller.
  • Use the checklist below to capture as much information as possible.
  • Call 911 immediately and report it to the Bothell Police Department.

If the threat comes by email or letter:

  • Call 911 immediately and report it to the Bothell Police Department.

If you find a device:

  • Do not touch the device in any way. Evacuate and seal off the area using building evacuation procedures.
  • Call Bothell Police (911) and Campus Safety (425-352-5222), indicating that a device has been found.
