About Us

Office of Academic Affairs

What we do

Academic Affairs creates and administers a structure to execute our university’s mission and vision.

We are deeply engaged in developing a strong yet flexible infrastructure that will support a wide range of scholarly activities and community partnerships. We work hard to strengthen connections among UW Bothell's academic schools and programs, as well as between the campus, other educational institutions, organizations and the greater community.

Academic Affairs is headed by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, who collaborates closely with the Chancellor and the General Faculty Organization (GFO).

Strategic goals

Enhance student achievement and graduation rates.

Strengthen existing programs that support students academically, institutionalizing more robust advising outreach to students and possibly developing new types of academic support programs.

Support faculty in developing innovative teaching approaches.

Further promote students’ engagement in what they are learning, both in and outside the classroom, and to better prepare them for life after graduation. Examples of approaches are providing hands-on skills learning, or digital techniques

Strategize with our research centers and schools on ways to promote faculty research and the intellectual reach of UW Bothell

Faculty engages in important work in all fields, making important contributions to knowledge for the betterment of our community and beyond. Ensure this work remains feasible and support faculty, including by helping them pursue funding opportunities.

Work closely with academic units (and all other units) to enhance the campus’s climate for engagement and inclusion for all constituents.

Create an academic environment where everyone feels engaged and supported and is able to thrive, regardless of their backgrounds, identities, or experiences.
