Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

Thirty awards annually of $20,000 + tuition for New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen field. Applicants must be green card holders, naturalized citizens, or children of naturalized citizens, 31 years old or younger, and pursuing graduate studies.

American Association of University Women (AAUW) Fellowships

AAUW offers several fellowships for women – US citizens and students of other nationalities – to pursue graduate studies in all disciplines. Some preference is given to women of color.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The National Science Foundation funds three years of financial support over a five-year period, including a $30,000 annual stipend and a $12,000 annual cost-of-education allowance, for graduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as psychology and the social sciences. Students must be US citizens, nationals or permanent residents, enrolled in a research-focused Master’s or Ph.D. program that is supported by the NFS by Fall 2013 and have completed no more than twelve months of full-time graduate study (or the equivalent) as of August 1, 2012.

Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarships

Twenty scholarships of $2,000 each awarded annually by The Washington CPA Foundation awards to students planning to practice as CPAs in Washington State. Applicants must have a 3.0+ GPA overall and in accounting courses, and show on-campus and off-campus community involvement.

Anita Borg Technical Leadership Award

$10,000 cash award for woman who has inspired the women’s technology community through outstanding technological and social
contributions.

Association for Women in Computing Scholarship

AWC awards two $1,000 scholarships annually. Applicants must be females, enrolled full-time in computing degree programs, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Hertz Fellowships

Generous, no-strings-attached fellowships allowing exceptional applied scientists and engineers the freedom to pursue their own ideas with financial independence under the guidance of the finest professors at the country’s top universities. Hertz Fellows are chosen for their intellect, ingenuity, and potential to bring meaningful and lasting change to our society.

Cultural Studies (MA) / Policy Studies (MA)

Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs

Full-time, nine month, graduate-level experiential leadership training program, including an academic component, that prepares diverse, talented and committed individuals for effective and ethical leadership in the public affairs arena. Offered in Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and St. Louis. Placements begin in September. Around 70 fellows are selected each year.

Multidisciplinary International Research Training (MIRT) UW Internal
Deadline: February
National program designed to encourage underrepresented students to pursue careers in biomedical and behavioral research by supporting health-related population-based research and training in developing countries. Recipients spend 8-12 weeks (beginning mid-June) at a foreign research site. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents, enrolled in a full-time degree program, research oriented, have proven academic scholarship, and demonstrate a commitment to community.

Education (MEd)

Knowles Science Teaching Fellowship

Professional development and support program for those with undergraduate degrees in a physical science, engineering or mathematics and who are pursuing credentials or are beginning teachers in high school physics, physical science and/or chemistry or mathematics.

Nursing (MN)

Medical Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship

One $5000 award sponsored by US Medical Supplies. Applicants must be full-time students, legal residents of the United States, in an educational program related to the medical field. Must like MPT on Facebook.

National Health Service Corps Scholarship

Scholarships to students pursuing primary health care professions training in NHSC-eligible disciplines in return for a commitment to provide health care to communities in need, upon graduation and the completion of training.

Travel or Study Abroad

UW Bothell Study Abroad Scholarship

Funding – $500 to $2,000 – for travel expenses required to participate in a study abroad program. Applicants must be currently enrolled UW Bothell students, residents of Washington State, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and commit to promoting study abroad opportunities among UW Bothell students upon their return as a Study Abroad Ambassador.

Fulbright US Student Program: Research and English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) UW Internal

Post-graduate opportunities, funded by the US Department of State, to spend a year abroad doing research, graduate studies, or teach English in over 155 countries worldwide. Applicants must be US citizens.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships and Internships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a variety of opportunities for Americans to study, conduct research, or work in Germany, including study abroad scholarships, summer study programs, and research internships in science and engineering. Proficiency in German may be required.

Bonderman Travel Fellowship

: February
Up to seven $20,000 fellowships awarded annually to UW graduate students for extended solo international travel. Fellows may not conduct research, pursue an academic project, or participate in a formal program or organization. They must travel for a minimum of eight months in at least six countries in two or more major regions of the world. Preference will be given to candidates without extensive international travel experience.

Post-Graduate Employment

Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program
Deadline
: November
Two-year, post-graduate leadership development program, sponsored by the federal Office of Personnel Management, for top students interested in government service. Program combines paid work assignments with classroom training and development opportunities. Applicants must be US citizens or in the process of obtaining US citizenship who will complete their advanced degree program by the end of August 2013.

Luce Scholars Program UW Internal

Provides fully-funded year-long placements in Asia, including stipends, language training, and tailored work assignment, for young leaders who have had limited experience of Asia. Applicants must be US citizens under 30, in good health, who will have completed a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the grant.

Peace Corps

Started by President Kennedy and supported by US Congress, the Peace Corps sends US citizens on two-year assignments to work with local communities all over the world in the following areas: education, youth outreach, and community development; business development; agriculture and environment; health and HIV/AIDS; and information technology. The program provide straining, a monthly stipend and health benefits, loan deferment and a stipend upon completion of service.
