Volunteer

CoSEE with the support of Washington State Parks offers a wide variety of ways for the public to get involved in volunteering at Saint Edward State Park (SESP). As part of CoSEE’s mission to have youth and family outreach as well as community-engaged research, it is fundamental to have ways for the public to get involved. CoSEE’s main form of volunteering is hosting monthly Work-Party Restoration events.

Restoration events at SESP

CoSEE’s yearly and monthly restoration events are centered around working towards collective car of Saint Edward State Park due to an increased level of visitation. The park is home to a diverse range of flora, fauna, and history and these events are a great way to learn more about the park and the work that is being done and can be contributed too. Events consist of removing different invasive species throughout the park in hopes of helping support local wildlife and ecosystem health. The Restoration Events co-led and planned with Washington State Parks and Friends of Saint Edward State Park (FoSESP).

What to bring to Restoration Work Party events (we work rain or shine):

  • Rain Jacket
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Water
  • Hand pruners or loppers (we have some but could always use more)
  • Gardening Gloves (we will provide extra if you do not have your own)

SESP restoration events meet at the EERC classroom (14445 Juanita Dr NE, Kenmore 98028). Volunteers can use free parking passes for the duration of their service.

Restoration events at Lake Sammamish State Park

CoSEE has an ongoing and growing partnership with Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park (FLSSP) in which CoSEE has multiple interns supporting their team. These interns who have pathways in invasive species knowledge and/or GIS mapping skills support the incredible work that FLSSP is doing in the park to remove key invasive species.
