Yard by Yard Update

16 homeowners helped & 2000 native species planted in place of invasive species

In this last month, the Yard by Yard project has planted at the final property of this second round of native plantings. A few weeks prior, Casey’s family, the Yard by Yard team, and neighbors from last round came together to remove a dense mat of invasive periwinkle in preparation for the incoming plants. A few weeks later, neighbors, friends, additional CoSEE interns and the team got together once more to replant with native groundcovers and shrubs. These native plants will not only create an attractive native landscape, but will also help manage runoff from the driveway, create a privacy screen, and insulate the forest right at the property’s edge.

The Yard by Yard team is proud to say that, so far, we have helped 16 homeowners plant 2000 native species in place of invasive species and lawns with much help from friends, family, community members, and neighbors along the way. We don’t want to stop here! We aim to foster a local community with experienced, novice, and curious native plant gardeners, and we hope to support additional homeowners in transforming their own spaces. If you want to participate, check out results, or learn more about the Yard by Yard project, please visit our new Yard by Yard webpage on our website.
