Staff Highlight

We are so excited to welcome another full-time team member of CoSEE, Kaylin Datwyler! Kaylin recently graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle with a double major in Environmental Studies and Political Science. She first joined CoSEE last summer (June 2025) as a capstone intern, returned in December through the Clime Time grant, and is now continuing with us as a Program Assistant through AmeriCorps funding. Kaylin has been leading the Adaptive Library and while continuing in this role she will also be supporting additional programs and initiatives across CoSEE.

The Native Plant Learning Garden

The Native Plant Learning Garden, originally designed as a space for environmental learning and community engagement, is now entering its next phase that is focused on long-term maintenance, ecological health, and sustaining the space for years to come. The current work being done is focused on three key areas: trail management, restorative planting, and invasive species and weeding. This phase of restoration is being led by CoSEE interns and community partners. Learn more about the Native Plant Learning Garden over on our blog!


Volunteer Work Party at Saint Edward State Park

Volunteers supported the removal of invasive Himalayan blackberry removal this month after the City of Kenmore Earth Day Celebration. This was a great day filled with community and hands-on ecological stewardship. Thank you to everyone who showed up, and we look forward to seeing you next month on May 17th from 10am – 1pm!

Kids to Parks Day & Summer Nature Walk Series

📅 Date & Time: May 16 | 10:00am
📍 Location: Meet at EERC Classroom in Saint Edward State Park (14445 Juanita Dr Kenmore)

Join us in celebrating National Kids to Parks Day! This walk will kickstart our summer nature walk series. These walks are open to everyone (including leashed pets) and are co-led by Washington State Parks and CoSEE staff. The Kids to Parks Day Event is also in collaboration with Friends of Saint Edwards State Park (FoSESP). It’s a great opportunity to learn about the park, ongoing restoration and research, and the many plants and animals that call the forest home. Register for Kids to Parks Day!


Volunteer Work Party at Saint Edward State Park

📍 Location: EERC Classroom, 14445 Juanita Dr NE Kenmore, WA 98028

Join us for a day of stewardship and discovery at Saint Edwards State Park, where we will be working on removing English Holly and Cherry Laurel. All ages 8+ are welcome; no experience needed. Please dress for the weather we work rain or shine! *Note: Volunteers can use free parking passes for the duration of their service. Register for the Volunteer Work Party!

What to bring (required):

  • Rain Jacket
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Water
  • Hand pruners or loppers (we have some but could always use more)
  • Gardening Gloves (we will provide extra if you do not have your own)

Inclusive STEAM Storytime Professional Development

📅 Date & Time: May 30 | 10:00AM
📍 Location: EERC Classroom, 14445 Juanita Dr NE Kenmore, WA 98028

Join us for a hands-on professional development focused on using interactive, STEAM-centered read-alouds to support inclusive learning. Inclusive STEAM Storytime is a hands-on professional development designed for educators supporting diverse learners across early learning, K–12, and community settings. Participants will leave with practical strategies, adaptation tools, and ready-to-use ideas for inclusive story times and classroom learning experiences. Reserve the EERC Classroom


The Environmental Education and Research Center (EERC) Classroom at Saint Edward State Park (Equipped with flexible seating, whiteboards, projector, Wi-Fi, and a kitchenette) is now available for reservation through the UW Bothell 25Live system.

Hours & Location:

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • 14445 Juanita Drive NE, Kenmore, WA 98028

Reservation Options:

  • Half-Day: 9:00am – 1:00pm or 1:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Full-Day: 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Outside reservation hours: $100/hour additional fee

Pricing Structure:

  • Community Partners: $250 (Half-Day) | $500 (Full-Day)
  • Corporate Partners: $500 (Half-Day) | $1,000 (Full-Day)
  • UW Bothell Partners: $350 (Half-Day) | $700 (Full-Day)
