Why minor in business administration?
Minoring in business is a great way to complement your primary area of study and enhance your leadership, communication skills, and relevancy in today's global marketplace.
University of Washington students from all non-business majors may earn a Minor in Business Administration at UW Bothell. Students enrolled at UW Seattle and UW Tacoma will be authorized for cross-enrollment in order to pursue the business minor. Interested students should discuss the feasibility of completing this minor with their major program advisor.
Prerequisites
Prospective students must complete calculus prior to taking BBUS 310 a minimum grade of 1.7 in either B MATH 144, STMATH 124, or MATH 112
Prospective students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.70.
Before enrolling in the minor, prospective students must also achieve an overall GPA of 2.70 in the following prerequisite courses:
- Microeconomics
- Macroeconomics
- Statistics
- College Algebra (or higher)
- One quarter 200-level Accounting
A minimum grade of 2.0 is required in each course.
If all prerequisites have been completed satisfactorily, admission to the minor is guaranteed.
Applying to the minor
To apply, complete a "Change of Major or Minor" form with your major program advisor. Your major program advisor will confirm that you meet the prerequisites of the minor, approve the "Change of Major or Minor" form to add the minor to your declared major(s) and minor(s), and send the approved form to the Registrar at your campus with a copy to the School of Business.
Once the approved "Change of Major or Minor" form is processed by the Registrar, a School of Business advisor will send an e-mail confirming your enrollment in the Business minor and providing additional information regarding the minor.
You can make an appointment with a School of Business advisor to discuss the Minor in Business. Please consult with your major advisor prior to meeting the advisor from the School of Business.
Program Requirements
The business minor requires the completion of 25 credits of upper-division business courses.

- B BUS 300 - Organizational Behavior, Ethics, and Inclusivity (5 credits) Diversity Designated Course
- B BUS 310 - Managerial Economics (5 credits) (calculus required)
- B BUS 320 - Marketing Management (5 credits)
- B BUS 340 - Operations and Project Management (5 credits)
ELECTIVE COURSES (5 credits)
One business elective at the 300-400 level. We recommend these classes:
- B BUS 330- Information Management and Analysis (5 credits)
- B BUS 431- Electronic Marketing (5 credits)
- B BUS 441- Business Project Management (5 credits)
- B BUS 471- Entrepreneurial Management (5 credits)
Registering for classes
Students who have been accepted into the Business minor will be able to register for Business courses starting in Registration Period 2. However, students not in the UW Bothell Business program will need the assistance of a School of Business advisor to register for 300/400 Business courses. Each quarter, prior to the start of Registration Period 2, all students in the Business minor are sent a link to a form used to request course registration assistance.
Graduating with a minor
When applying for graduation, the student's major program advisor will list the minor requirements on the graduation application. Upon graduation, the minor will be indicated on the student's transcript, but will not appear on the diploma.
