Prerequisites

To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution (or international equivalent).

  • UW Bothell Accounting Majors: Current UW undergraduate accounting students should complete at least one quarter of prerequisite coursework before applying.
  • Non-Accounting Majors: Applicants without an undergraduate degree in accounting must complete the prerequisite accounting courses listed below before starting the MSA program.

Required Upper-Level Accounting Courses (300/400 level):

  • Intermediate Accounting 1, 2 & 3
  • Cost Accounting
  • Auditing Theory and Practice
  • Federal Income Taxation

Admissions Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate strong academic and professional preparation.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Recommended GPA of 3.0 or higher (holistic review considered)
  • Accounting, business, and statistics prerequisites (bridge options available for non-accounting majors)
  • English proficiency is required (TOEFL scores may be required)
  • GMAT/GRE not required

What to Expect After Applying

After you submit your application:

  • Confirmation: You’ll receive an email confirming your submission and next steps.
  • Review Process: Admissions staff will review your materials for completeness, then the faculty committee evaluates your application holistically.
  • Timeline: Most applicants receive a decision within 4–6 weeks of submission.
  • Next Steps: Admitted students are provided with enrollment instructions, orientation details, and information about course registration.
