Debabrata “Deb” Dey is the Marion B. Ingersoll Professor of Information Systems. He is the Founding Faculty Director of the Masters in Information Systems (MSIS) Program at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. He is a thought leader and accomplished scholar in the areas of information systems economics, digital markets, pricing and performance, information security, systems development and contracting, and technology diffusion. He is and award-winning teacher and regularly advises technology companies around the world. He is also a founding member at ProCogia, a Bellevue Washington-based Data Analytics company, and, currently, is the Chair of its Advisory Board.

Professor Dey received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computers and Information Systems from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester. He earned his B.Tech. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, and Syracuse University, respectively. In the past, he has worked on a variety of business issues related to heterogeneous and distributed systems, network pricing and performance, data mining, data uncertainty, data heterogeneity, and data quality. His research has been published in journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, ACM Transactions on Database Systems, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, and INFORMS Journal on Computing, among others. Professor Dey has served as a senior editor for Information Systems Research and as associate editors for Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, INFORMS Journal on Computing, and Information Technology & Management.

Associate Professor of Operations and Supply Network Management

Surya Pathak is an Associate Professor, an eight-time award-winning MBA professor, and an accomplished scholar in the area of operations and supply network management. He is one of the leading faculty members in the School of Business at Bothell, who works extensively with the industry and leads consulting projects. He has led student consulting teams that worked with local and global corporations. He is a founding member of the Center for Supply Network Science at Arizona State University, at Tempe, Arizona and serves on the Editorial Review Board of Journal of Operations Management as well as the Production and Operations Management Journal. He also serves on the advisory board for Iotimize LLC, a bay area health-care startup.

Professor Pathak received his Ph.D. in Management of Technology from Vanderbilt University. He also has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics. Prior to joining University of Washington, Bothell he has served as a research and technical lead at the Advanced Computing Center for Research and Education developing next generation network based data storage technologies, and as a Senior Research Associate in the Engineering Management Program and Systems and Decision Making group at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. Prof. Pathak’s research is in the area of Supply Network management wherein he investigates supply “networks” rather than “chains”, using complex adaptive systems and network theory. Particularly he is interested in, a) understanding the implications of considering a network-based model on supply management decisions, taken under risk and uncertainty and, b) developing policy design frameworks that would aid policy makers and managers in making informed decisions.

Sophie Leroy is an Associate Professor of Management, at the University of Washington Bothell, School of Business. She received her Ph.D. from New York University, Stern School of Business. She also holds a Master in Management from HEC (Paris), which was partially completed at Columbia Business School, MBA program. Before her academic career, Dr. Leroy held managerial and executive positions in the finance and consulting industries, working for SG Cowen, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Interbrand, among others.

Dr. Leroy teaches courses on Managing High Performance Teams, Leadership, and Ethics. Her most recent honors and awards include Technology MBA Faculty of the Year Teaching Award, 2019; Leadership MBA Faculty of the Year Teaching Award in 2019, 2018, 2016; Undergraduate Faculty of the Year Teaching Award in 2017.

Dr. Leroy’s research investigates how the modern workplace affects people’s ability to focus attention and perform. She pioneered the concept of Attention Residue, which has received large academic and popular press interest. She also studies how leadership emergence affects team dynamics and performance. Dr. Leroy’s work has been published in top scientific journals and has been featured in the New York Times, TIME Magazine, The Economist, Harvard Business Review, the World Economic Forum, Strategy+Business, and many more. Her research has led to corporate invitations such as Google Future of Work conference.

Haluk Demirkan is the Milgard Professor of Service Innovation & Business Analytics. He is the Founding Director of Master of Science Business Analytics, Undergraduate Minor in Business Data Analytics and Center for Business Analytics at the Milgard School of Business, University of Washington Tacoma. He is an innovation and analytics evangelist, maestro, data gig, recognized leader, experienced practitioner (20+ years), awarded consultant, accomplished scholar (~20 years), active applied researcher, cross-disciplinary teacher, effective mentor, invited speaker, productive author (150+ pubs) & professional student. His achievements brought him a global leadership and reputation in co-creation of value and service innovation with automation, out-tasking, complex data, analytics, artificial intelligence, intelligence augmentation, micro services, design and service-oriented technology & management. Most current, he is assisting organizations to transform themselves with Collaborative Intelligence (Humans + AI + Process).

Professor Demirkan has more than 20 years professional experience advising more than 40 Fortune 500 companies like IBM, GE, Cisco, HP, Intel, American Express, Bank of America, Citibank, Premier Healthcare, Abbott and others in maximizing the return on companies’ resources by effectively implementing strategic data, analytics, cognitive and service transformation solutions. In 2014, he was ranked 5th in Top-100 World-wide Researchers (the Association for Information Systems sanctioned rankings) with his applied scholarship. He also received four IBM Faculty Research Awards as a result of service & cognitive analytics research. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, a M.E. and P.E. in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Operations Management from the University of Florida.

Rohit Amberkar is a Finance and Operations professional with approximately 20 years’ experience in technology and consulting industries. He has led large (100+) functions and has been accountable for managing long-range strategic planning, operational financial planning and analysis, internal controls, consolidations, external reporting, supporting CFO's earnings release processes and various other finance and accounting processes. His specialties include leading Digital Transformation initiatives and delivering system capabilities to automate finance and accounting processes. He has significant experience in using Blockchain, ML / AI and RPA to transform SOX controls, accounting accruals and delivering interactive real-time actionable reports.

Rohit is a frequent keynote speaker at industry events on topics of automation, future of finance, blockchain, etc. He has supported a couple of start-up's as CFO and served on the board of many non-profit organizations in the capacity of Treasurer and Vice President. He is a CPA, Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Accountant, Information Systems Auditor, Certified Global Management Accountant and Certified Blockchain Expert.
