Over 250 Degrees Awarded in 2016

The School of Nursing & Health Studies is proud to announce that we conferred over 250 degrees in 2016. In addition to the accomplishment of successfully completing degree requirements, many of our Nursing students, in both the Bachelor and Master programs, earned a place in the Nursing Honor Society. Several Health Studies students are on their way to Masters in Public Health Programs both here and abroad.

Butch de Castro Selected as American Academy of Nursing Fellow

The American Academy of Nursing selects nursing leaders with a record of outstanding contributions to the improvement of nursing at the national or international level. Butch de Castro, Associate Professor in the School of Nursing & Health Studies has improved nursing by making outstanding contributions over time with significant, measurable impact.

Faculty member Dan Bustillos is editing a symposium in Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics: A Journal of Qualitative Research. They are currently seeking submissions on the topic "To Vaccinate or Not? Parents' Stories."

June Altaras, MN Alum, Receives Seattle Business Magazine Award

Seattle Business magazine has named June Altaras, Masters of Nursing alum, Outstanding Health Care Executive for the Puget Sound Region. Altaras is the Swedish Seattle Chief Executive and System Chief Executive for Acute Care. She also leads a newly formed system acute care operations council, serves on the boards of several Seattle-based organizations, the Northwest Healthcare Response Network, and the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
