Admissions

The Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies is a minimum-requirements major. Any student who meets the program’s admission requirements is automatically admitted to the major when they apply. The major accepts transfer students and UW Bothell students who are either pre-major or who are changing majors.

Entry Quarters

The Health Studies major admits students for entry in autumn, winter, and spring quarters. UW Bothell internal and transfer students are eligible to declare the Health Studies major as soon as they have met the minimum requirements.

How to Declare or Apply

Submit an Internal Declaration if you are:

  • A pre-major student at UW Bothell
  • Already in a major at UW Bothell and want
    to switch majors
  • Seeking a double major or double degree
Internal Declaration

Submit a Transfer Application if you are:

  • A student at UW Seattle or UW Tacoma
  • Transferring from another college or university outside of the UW system
  • A post-baccalaureate student
Transfer Application

If you have been away from the UW for more than two quarters (excluding summer quarter) and have not completed the degree you were pursuing when you were last enrolled, follow the Returning Student Process.

Prerequisite Courses

A minimum of 30-quarter credits to include the following:

  • English Composition (5 credits) with a grade of 2.0 or higher
  • An approved health course (5 credits) with a grade of 2.0 or higher
    • For internal applicants: BHS 201 or other BHLTH course recommended
    • For transfer applicants, the commonly approved health courses include:
      • Intro/General Biology Courses
      • Intro/General Chemistry Courses
      • Organic Chemistry Courses
      • Human Anatomy & Physiology Courses
      • Microbiology
      • Nutrition
      • Intro/General Psychology
      • Abnormal Psychology
      • Lifespan Psychology
      • Human Sexuality
  • Recommended: One course in statistics (5 credits) and one course focused on writing (5 credits)
