New faculty orientation

The University of Washington provides several opportunities for new faculty across the University to connect with other faculty to learn about UW resources. In addition to fall orientation activities offered within individual schools, the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) hosts a New Faculty Orientation for full-time faculty at the start of each fall quarter. The orientation provides faculty with an overview of how various units at UWB work with faculty to support their teaching and research.

Faculty re-orientation series

The UW Bothell Faculty (Re)Orientation consists of quarterly workshops introducing/reintroducing faculty to key campus resources and services supporting their teaching. Previous workshops include Learning and Teaching Collaborative (formerly Academic and Collaborative Technologies), Student Conduct, Global Initiatives, and Career Services.

Promotion and tenure workshops

Each Spring, the Office of Faculty Success partners with UWB schools to conduct a promotion and tenure workshop for candidates and committee chairs. The candidate-focused workshops educate candidates about the promotion and tenure process at UW, addresses common candidate questions and concerns, and reviews best practices for creating a dossier. The chair-focused workshops educate chairs on best practices for chairing promotion committees and addresses common issues that may arise during the review process.

Faculty write-on-site

The Office of Faculty Success hosts a quarterly Faculty Writing Group for faculty interested in joining a peer writing community to support adherence to good writing practice. The group meets weekly, virtually and in person, over the quarter.
