BSN-MN

Are you ready to get a head start in your graduate studies? Are you a current or future UW Bothell student planning on enrolling in our Master of Nursing degree immediately following completion of a UW Bothell BSN degree? If so, join our BSN-to-MN program! 

In the BSN-to-MN program (AKA; Combined Undergraduate and Graduate Degree – CUG) students complete up to 3 Master of Nursing courses (12 credits) while enrolled in the BSN program. The courses and credits completed are applied to the degree requirements of the BSN and MN. 


  • Pay undergraduate tuition for the graduate coursework taken
  • Apply credits to both the BSN and MN requirements
  • Continue in the MN program immediately following graduation from the BSN – Winter quarter

Master of Nursing courses open to students in the program

  • BNURS 504 Disparity and Social Justice in Healthcare (taken final quarter in the BSN)
  • BNURS 525 Healthcare Systems Leadership for Advanced Roles (taken final quarter in the BSN)
  • BHLTH 511 Curriculum Development in Nursing Education 
  • BHLTH 512 Evaluation of Academic and Clinical Performance in Nursing and HealthCare 
  • BHLTH 513 Theories and Methods of Teaching and Learning  
  • BHLTH 515 Technology and Enhanced-Pedagogy  

Program entry and progression requirements

  • UW Bothell Bachelor of Science (RN-to-BSN program) student in good academic standing.   
  • Cumulative 3.2 GPA for the last 90 credits (60 semester credits).  
  • Two years of nursing experience as an RN. 
  • Active and unencumbered Washington State RN license.  
  • Comply with the school’s Nursing Essential Behaviors and Health and Safety requirements.  
  • Two recommendations: A supervisor recommendation-If you are not currently employed, provide a recommendation from a former supervisor or a professional recommendation from a graduate prepared health provider and an academic recommendation.  
  • Statement of purpose, resume, and an online graduate application (application fee is waived).

To progress in the program and matriculate into the MN, the student must earn, and graduate, with a 3.2 GPA in all coursework applied to the UWB BSN degree and be current with all other program entry and progression requirements listed above. Students meeting these requirements will be admitted to the UW Graduate School and Master of Nursing program winter quarter immediately following completion of BNURS 504 and 525.

To utilize the credits toward the Master of Nursing taken as part of the CUG, the student must matriculate into the Master of Nursing program within one year of completing the UW Bothell Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Full UW Graduate School Policy here.
