Dan Berger publishes on Malcolm X in Al Jazeera America

IAS faculty member Dan Berger published “Malcolm X’s Challenge to Mass Incarceration” in Al Jazeera America, discussing the significance of Malcolm X and his legacy, fifty years after his assassination in 1965. Berger notes that “prison” was, for Malcolm X, both a reality and a metaphor for “the daily indignities black women and men faced,” and links this insight to contemporary movements against mass incarceration and “preemptive policing.”
