Marco Zenone

I am a Public Health & Policy PhD Student at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Research Associate at the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta. I completed my MSc in Health Policy and BA Honours in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University.


Scholarship

My research is focused on the public health implications of emerging technologies with an emphasis on social media, misinformation, and online portrayals of health. I have published 30 peer-reviewed research articles on misinformation, crowdfunding for unproven medical treatments, exploitative health marketing, false balance in news coverage, and critically examining the role of social media platforms in health. My research is published in high impact journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, the Journal of Medical Internet Research, and JAMA Network Open. My work has been featured in influential news outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, The Verge, The Toronto Star, CBC, and CityNews.
