Reinstatement

In accordance with the Graduate School Policy to Maintain Graduate Student Status, students who fail to maintain graduate student status (which requires continuous enrollment or approved on-leave status) must request to be reinstated to resume studies in their previous graduate program.

Prior admission to the program does not guarantee reinstatement. Students can be a) reinstated fully and immediately; b) reinstated conditionally, c) reinstated for a future quarter or, d) denied reinstatement.
Reinstatement decisions are made at the discretion of the degree program and reviewed by the Graduate Program Coordinator (or their designee) and in consultation with the Graduate Program Advisor. Requests for reinstatement may be considered from students who have been inactive (lost graduate student status) and have completed at least one quarter of graduate study in the program they seek to be reinstated.

Instructions

To request reinstatement, submit the request at least two weeks prior to the reinstatement quarter. Prior to submitting the request, consult with the Graduate Program Advisor to confirm the necessary coursework is available in the quarter of reinstatement (and any prerequisites are met) and receive an updated program plan of study for Graduate Program Coordinator review.

  • Submit a brief written statement of readiness to resume studies to the Graduate Program Advisor.
  • Log in to MyGrad to submit the Online Request for Reinstatement.

Students Approved for Reinstatement:

If approved, return to MyGrad and pay the reinstatement fee to process the approval. Register for the courses the Graduate Program Advisor outlined.

NOTE: Master of Nursing students must be compliant with the Health and Safety requirements.
