Recommend a Community Project

MS in Community Health and Social Justice

Are you a community organization seeking innovative solutions to address health disparities and social justice in the Puget Sound region?

The MS in Community Health and Social Justice program invites you to collaborate with our graduate students to complete a 12-16 week (winter/spring quarters) course-based Capstone project. It can be a component of a larger project, or a stand alone. It can be short-term involving one cohort of students or longitudinal involving multiple cohorts across more than one year.

Let’s partner to solve a community challenge

How It Works

Proposal

Community partners submit a brief proposal for a project that meets the program criteria (see below).Faculty review proposals and meet with potential partners to discuss details.

Partner Agreement

Projects are selected based on feasibility and alignment with capstone criteria. Terms, project description, deliverables, and details are refined with reciprocity in mind.

Student Project Match

Students are matched to an approved project. They can work solo or in teams depending on the nature of the work.

Mentorship

Students are mentored by the capstone instructor weekly and meet in person or on Zoom with community partner regularly to support progress and to receive feedback.

Problem Solving and Innovation

Students apply their knowledge, skills, and resourcefulness to generate solutions and deliverables.

Public Presentation

Students present findings and deliverables at the capstone symposium and receive feedback from community partner, peers, faculty, and other stakeholders.
