IAS Student Alia Marsha is New Editor-in-Chief of Husky Herald

Senior Alia Marsha (Media and Communication Studies major) will serve as the new Editor-in-Chief of Husky Herald for the 2015-2016 academic year. Husky Herald is the UW Bothell student newspaper, which goes to print monthly, and publishes online as news happens.

“This year Husky Herald aims to stay as a hub for and by students to engage with issues in and surrounding UW Bothell campus, and to practice multimedia journalism,” said Marsha.

IAS faculty member Kristin Gustafson is the faculty adviser for the Husky Herald.  The print issue is a collective effort of:

  • Alia Marsha, senior, Media and Communications Studies major and Human Rights minor;
  • Brianna Ishihara, senior, Media and Communications Studies major;
  • David Gillespie, senior, Media and Communications Studies major;
  • Wallace Branin, senior, Culture, Literature, and the Arts major;
  • Katie Pham, junior, Health Studies major.

The Husky Herald is also supported by the efforts of alumni Eric Flatness (Media and Communication Studies, ’15) and Christian Archiniega (Global Studies and Media and Communication Studies, ’15).

The first Husky Herald print issue of 2015-2016 academic year will be available in strategic locations on campus starting Monday, September 28, 2015. The issue will cover the recent tuition cut for Washington state public colleges, survival tips for first year and transfer students, the grand opening of the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), and many more topics relevant to UW Bothell communities.
