The Shinhan Bank Young Scholar Award recognizes outstanding early-career research in finance. Recipients are selected through a formal KAFA nomination and review process, with a committee evaluating research quality, originality and potential impact.

Choi’s research focuses on corporate finance and governance, including corporate ethics, environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices and CEO decision-making. His work examines how leadership, executive incentives and governance shape financial decisions and firm performance.

“I am truly honored to receive the 2026 Shinhan Bank Young Scholar Award,” said Choi. “This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects years of research and collaboration with wonderful coauthors, mentors, and colleagues. I am deeply grateful for their support and proud to be part of the UW Bothell School of Business.”
