Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Program Grant

Our funding

The Violence Prevention & Advocacy program receives federal funding from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Program grant (OVW Grant). The grant is for 3 years and runs from 2021 until September 2024.

The ultimate purpose of the Campus Program Grant is to create effective and comprehensive responses to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, focusing on both prevention and intervention for UWB and Cascadia College. The three broad goals of the Campus Program are: 1) broad campus and community engagement, 2) reducing sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, and 3) effective intervention.

Our plans

The grant activities are carried out by the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT),  a workgroup composed of a wide range of staff, faculty, students, and community partners, who meet regularly to assess, plan and evaluate the work we are doing.

The CCRT will be addressing the main goals across four key areas.

  • Survivor Services: providing confidential survivor services and advocacy, with a focus on groups that have been historically underserved and marginalized by support services
  • Comprehensive prevention efforts: including mandatory prevention and education programming for all incoming students, as well as ongoing prevention training and programming
  • Campus Safety/ Law Enforcement: providing ongoing training for all campus safety staff to effectively respond to incidents of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
  • Student Conduct/ Title IX: providing ongoing training for all staff involved in the student conduct or resolution process, particularly in coordinating resources and developing clear protocols.
