There are multiple ways you can get involved with ASUWB! In addition to elected positions, you can apply to be a staff member, Senator, serve on a committee, or attend a meeting or town hall to provide your input. ASUWB holds weekly open meetings to discuss initiatives, vote on resolutions, hear public comments, and more. Anyone is welcome to attend. if you’d like to speak at a meeting, please reach out below informing us of what you wish to speak about and how long you intend to speak for. Town Halls
ASUWB holds one Town Hall each quarter for a variety of purposes: to connect with the student body, provide information about what our purpose and what we’re working on, hear student perspectives on an especially pertinent issue, and more. Anyone is welcome to attend a town hall and we do our best to schedule them optimally. We hope to see you at a future town hall!

ASUWB is the governing body of UW Bothell’s students, and committed to holding free and fair elections for Executive Board positions. No one is precluded from running for office, and it’s a fantastic way to make the most out of your time at UW Bothell, build on a legacy of student advocacy, and leave a lasting impact on our campus!

Positions
Overviews of each elected position and their job description are below. The full duties of each position can be found in the ASUWB Bylaws above.
President
The President is expected full time during the Summer Quarter (starting in July) and up to 19.5 hours during the school year, as well as conduct at least 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Serving on committees and organizations of administration, faculty, and staff as requested or appointing a designee from ASUWB to serve
- Serving as the primary spokesperson for ASUWB and as the liaison for tri-campus communication via quarterly tri-campus meetings
- Creating and publicizing the weekly meeting agenda in conjunction with the Internal Affairs Coordinator and Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
- Presiding over ASUWB meetings when in attendance and ensuring compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act (RCW Chapter 42.30)
- Monitoring team performance in conjunction with the Vice President and Internal Affairs Coordinator, ensuring that ASUWB abides by its bylaws
- Attending or appointing a designee to attend monthly Board of Regents meetings and reporting back, attending or appointing a designee to attend UW Alumni Association meetings
- Meeting monthly with the UWB Chancellor
- Serving on committees and organizations of administration, faculty, and staff as requested or appointing a designee from ASUWB to serve
Vice President
The Vice President is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week beginning in July and lasting until the end of Spring Quarter, and to conduct at least 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Serving as the president ex officio in the event of absence, resignation, or forfeiture of the President
- Monitoring team performance in conjunction with the President and Internal Affairs Coordinator
- Supporting the President in maintaining tri-campus communication and collaborating on various matters
- Serving as Co-Chair of the Legislative Enactment Committee
- Voting on resolutions and legislation during ASUWB meetings
- Serving on committees and organizations of administration, faculty, and staff as requested.
Director of Finance
The Director of Finance and Budget is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week beginning in July and lasting until the end of Spring Quarter, and to conduct at least 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Chairing the Finance Committee
- Serving on the Student Activities Fee, Student Technology Fee, and U-Pass Committees or appointing a designee from ASUWB to serve
- Creating the annual budget in conjunction with the President
- Writing the SAF Budget Proposal for ASUWB
- Making purchases when authorized
- Ensuring compliance with university financial policies
- Overseeing the Student Academic Enhancement Fund
- Serving on committees and organizations of administration, faculty, and staff as requested.
Director of Community Partnerships
The Director of Campus Partnerships is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week beginning in July and lasting until the end of Spring Quarter, and to conduct 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Oversee the Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
- Conduct assessments on student need, interest, and/or expectations of ASUWB at the beginning of each academic year
- Collaborate with the Community Engagement Coordinator to coordinate and execute a Town Hall at the beginning of each academic quarter
- Meet at least quarterly with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Vice Chancellor for Advancement, the Campus Diversity Officer, and the Deans for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs to discuss ongoing direction, policies, events and objectives of ASUWB
- Serve as or appoint the ASUWB representative on campus initiative committees, which may include committees concerning campus safety, DEI, and student health
- Serve as Co-Chair of the Legislation Enactment Committee
Director of Senate
The Director of Senate is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week beginning in July and lasting until the end of Spring Quarter, and to conduct 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Serve as the Speaker and a non-voting member (except when the Chair has the deciding vote) of the Senate
- Ensure the execution of legislation passed by the Senate and shall relay all legislation and recommendations to the proper College associations, committees, and offices
- Be responsible for the orientation and training of senators
- In conjunction with the Internal Affairs Coordinator, establish and distribute meeting agendas in accordance with the existing regulations of these Bylaws and the Open Public Meetings Act (RCW Chapter 42.30)
- Hold minimum monthly check-ins with all Senators
- Facilitate the creation and publication of the Senate’s quarterly and annual review documents, in conjunction with the Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
- Coordinate on-campus events for the Senators in conjunction with the Senate and the Community Engagement Coordinator

Director of Legislative Affairs
The Director of Legislative Affairs is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week starting in July until the end of Spring Quarter, and conduct 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. During Winter Quarter, the Director of Legislative Affairs will live in Olympia and lobby the state legislature on behalf of ASUWB. Housing and 15 academic credits will be provided. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Oversee the Legislative Liaison
- Advocate for the approved ASUWB legislative agenda in Olympia and Washington D.C during the legislative session
- Coordinate the annual Huskies on the Hill lobby day with ASUW Seattle, ASUW Tacoma and GPSS with the Legislative Liaison
- Serve as necessary as the liaison to ASUW Seattle, ASUW Tacoma and GPSS
- Serve as the liaison for state and federal affairs by regularly meeting and corresponding with state and federal elected officials
- Share legislative updates as requested or necessary, but shall share updates on the legislative agenda after each legislative cutoff at minimum
- Serve on the Washington Student Association Legislative Proposal Committee and be a member of the Legislative Liaison Program
- Collaborate with the United States Student Association and other organizations on federal legislative priorities
Legislative Liaison
The Legislative Liaison is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week starting in August until the end of Spring Quarter, and to conduct 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Serving as an ex-officio member of executive board meetings in the event that the Direct of Legislative Affairs is absent
- Serving as the primary spokesperson for ASUWB with local and state government entities outside of Olympia
- Serving as the liaison between UW Bothell and student representatives from Cascadia Student Government, the ASUW, and the ASUWT
- Working with the Director of Legislative Affairs throughout Autumn Quarter to establish the legislative agenda
- Meeting with the Government and Community Relations office
- Operating civic engagement initiatives such as coordinating voter registration
Internal Affairs Coordinator
The Internal Affairs Coordinator is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week starting in August until the end of Spring Quarter, and conduct 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Recording and archiving meeting minutes for ASUWB and the Senate
- Serving as Parliamentarian of the Senate
- Serving as Co-Chair of the Senate Steering Committee and as a representative on the Elections Committee;
- Monitoring team performance in conjunction with the President and Vice President
- Ensuring compliance with the ASUWB Constitution and Bylaws
- Serving on committees and organizations of administration, faculty, and staff as requested
- Establish and distribute meeting agendas for the Board of Directors with the President and Senate with the Director of Senate as per these Bylaws and the Open Public Meetings Act (RCW Chapter 42.30)
Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
The Marketing Coordinator is expected to work up to 19.5 hours/week starting in August until the end of Spring Quarter, and to conduct 8 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Share new ideas to help increase awareness of ASUWB’s identity
- Assist ASUWB and its committees in facilitating public access to meetings, agendas, minutes, and other ASUWB information
- Promoting awareness of the resources ASUWB provides to UW and the student body
- Collaborate with the Director of the Senate to promote the Senate
- Regulate and monitor ASUWB branding, marketing, social media, and the website
- Coordinate, create, design, and publish ASUWB Quarterly and Annual Reports
Community Engagement Coordinator
The Community Engagement Coordinator is expected to work up to 10 hours/week starting in August until the end of Spring Quarter, and to conduct 5 hours of office hours/week with the exception of finals week. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of events designed to enhance ASUWB’s visibility and student engagement
- Collaborate with the Director of Community Partnerships, Marketing & Outreach Coordinator, Director of Senate and Director of Finance regarding the focus areas of each role
- Serve as the primary liaison between ASUWB and student organizations to support collaborative events and initiatives
- Actively communicate with student groups and UW departments to foster strong community relations
Senate
The ASUWB Senate is a group of fifteen student leaders who represent various constituencies across campus to provide input on pertinent campus issues, monitor the performance of the ASUWB Executive Board, and legislate on the bylaws, regulations, and procedures of ASUWB. The powers of the Senate are outlined in the ASUWB Bylaws.

Senate Committees
The Senate oversees four permanent committees and has the authority to establish an ad hoc committee at any time. The full duties of each committee can be found in the ASUWB Bylaws above.
Finance Committee
Chaired by the Director of Finance, the Finance Committee manages the annual ASUWB budget and its appropriations.
Civic Actions Committee (CAC)
Co-chaired by the President and Director of Legislative Affairs, the CAC executes ASUWB policy and programming and manages the annual legislative agenda.
Steering Committee
Co-chaired by the Director of Senate and the Policy & Personnel Coordinator, the Steering Committee monitors internal operations of ASUWB and subsequently reviews the efficacy of ASUWB bylaws and procedures.
Elections Committee
Chaired by the Vice President, the Elections Committee supervises electoral processes for the Executive Board.
