About Us
The Associated Students of UW Bothell was founded in 2008 by a group of students passionate about bridging the gap between administration, faculty, and the student body. Over the years, it has undergone numerous iterations and structural changes as UW Bothell has continued to change and grow.

Zoya Merakov, Vice Speaker of Senate
Zoya Merakov is a senior studying Law, Economics, and Public Policy, and minoring in Human Rights. She is very excited to serve as the Vice Speaker this year! After serving as a senator for commuting students in 2024, she developed a passion for the Senate and making all students feel connected. As the Vice Speaker, Zoya aims to foster more student engagement within the Senate, more senator opportunities, and to make sure that students are connected and are aware of the Senate branch of government. Outside of school, Zoya loves to read, hang out with friends, and go out into nature. She is hopeful to make a lasting positive impact on the Senate and UWB as a whole!

Executive Staff
Hiro Hirano-Holcomb, Director of Legislative Affairs
Hello everyone! My name is Hiro, my pronouns are they/them, I am a senior majoring in Law, Economics, and Public Policy with a minor in Human Rights, and I am so excited to be ASUWB’s Director of Legislative Affairs this year! I first got involved in legislative advocacy my junior year of high school and primarily advocated for school curriculum that includes and celebrates LGBTQ+ people, BIPOC, and other marginalized communities. In my advocacy, I always try to center equity whether it be through expanded access to basic needs and financial aid or ensuring that all students feel safe and empowered in their pursuit of education, advocacy, and beyond. In my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar and singing, spending time with friends and family, and swimming.
Please never hesitate to reach out and if you ever see me around campus, feel free to bring up any concerns you may have or just say hello! I hope to see you at ASUWB events and Huskys on the Hill where all huskies will be invited to come down to our state capitol to lobby on behalf of all UW students!

Shera Dalgamouni, Legislative Liaison
Hello everyone! I’m Shera, your legislative liaison for this year! I’m a cross-campus senior majoring in Law, Economics, and Pubic Policy here at UW Bothell and minoring in LSJ at UW Seattle! I am a Palestinian-Jordanian who wants to advocate for all people who feel underrepresented in any way. I feel particularly passionate about issues surrounding immigration, tuition/financial aid, sexual assault on or off campus, and making sure all students are aware of their opportunities. As a student who has faced numerous financial challenges in life, I want to help make it easier for others.
Please don’t feel anxious to come talk to me about any concerns or even connect with me on social media! As an introvert, I know it is hard to start a conversation, but I truly love to make genuine connections with others! I do spend a lot of time studying on the Ave and at Husky football games, and in my free time I love to read and explore the city, so if you ever need a friend or study buddy to lock in with, I’m here!

Who is in charge of ASUWB?
ASUWB is accountable to itself as outlined in the constitution and the bylaws, as well as to university-wide policy, state laws, and federal laws. That’s why it’s important for students to offer input and feedback! However, ASUWB is advised by Student Engagement and Activities (SEA).
