Warren Gold receives two King County grants for stormwater study
IAS faculty member Warren Gold received two grants from King county for a project on "Floating Treatment Wetlands Reduce Contaminants and Nutrients in Urban Stormwater Runoff." The grants will fund a research collaboration with Dr. Lizbeth Seebacher that evaluates the effectiveness of different Northwest wetland plant species and biomedia mixes in reducing stormwater pollutants and the effects of those pollutants on the health of coho salmon.

Kristin Gustafson elected to Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication’s teaching committee
Members of the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) elected IAS faculty member Kristin Gustafson to the organization’s Teaching Committee. The 3,700-member professional, nonprofit, international organization is “the oldest and largest alliance of journalism and mass communication educators and administrators at the college level.” Gustafson will serve a three-year term beginning October.

Amani Sawari advocates for release of Michigan prisoners amidst COVID-19
IAS alum Amani Sawari (’16) is the statewide campaign coordinator for the Michigan Prisoner Rehabilitation Credit Act (MPRCA), an initiative for the November 2020 ballot that would restore "good time" credits to the prison system, which were eliminated in the state's 1998 Truth In Sentencing law. Robbie Christmas creates “Work From Home Seattle” concert livestream
Many full-time musicians in the Seattle area are finding their incomes frozen as events and venues across the state remain closed. One of these affected artists is IAS alum Robbie Christmas (Media & Communication Studies ’11), also known as RX.
