Mina Hooshangi thrives as a project manager at Boeing

Mina Hooshangi ('11, Community Psychology) is a Project Manager at The Boeing Company. A part of the Engineering community, her role specifically focuses on supporting mentoring, internships, onboarding, and skills management initiatives. Mina has used her IAS education to help her excel within three diverse positions at Boeing beginning in Quality, moving over to Employee Development, and now testing the waters with Project Management—all within a short four-year period. In addition, she serves as the Communications Chair on the Boeing Women in Leadership Executive Board. Jason Hampton channels his passion for sustainability into transportation policy

Jason Hampton ('14, Law, Economics, & Public Policy) joined the Bellevue Downtown Association in May 2014. As Transportation Program Manager, Jason manages TransManage partnerships with City of Kirkland, City of Bellevue and King County Metro. Through Kirkland Green Trip and the Choose Your Way Bellevue, he works with area employers to develop and enhance employer commute programs. His goal is to provide employers with the knowledge, resources, and expertise to support their employees commute needs. Working at a nonprofit, he liaises with both private and public sectors, often acting as a nexus between the two. Jason also serves as the chair of the Community Transit Employee Transportation Coordinator Peer Advisory Board. Jason returned to college after a thirteen year hiatus...

Lauren Fay shares career advice and encouragement with students

Lauren Fay (’07, Global Studies) is the Coordinated Entry and Housing Placement Manager at Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC), a large service organization in Seattle that works to end the homelessness of vulnerable people, particularly those living with serious mental or addictive illnesses. She has been working for DESC since 2008 and held a variety of positions in housing programs, shelter programs, and mental health outreach. Most recently, Lauren managed the Permanent Supportive Housing complex Aurora House, which serves 87 individuals who've experienced chronic homelessness, mental illness...

Ray Corona shares his career path with students

Ray Corona (’13, Society, Ethics & Human Behavior) met with Martha Groom’s students to share his career path and advice for the journey. Ray currently works as a corporate recruiter for LandCare, a national landscaping company. Ray is also a member of City of Seattle LGBT Commission, a citizen group that advises city staff and elected officials on issues concerning the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. Ray’s fervent commitment to advocacy extends to other groups. Richard Buzard discusses his graduate studies in geology at University of Alaska Fairbanks

Richard Buzard ('15, Environmental Science) is a master’s candidate studying geology and remote sensing at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He uses aerial and satellite imagery, unmanned aerial vehicles, and high-grade GPS to measure changes in Alaska’s coastline. Richard is currently an Alaska Sea Grant fellow working on two projects which aim to determine past and current rates of shoreline retreat in nearly a dozen villages surrounding Bristol Bay. He is working closely with partners from the Department of Natural Resources, NOAA, Borough of Indian Affairs, Bristol Bay Native Association, and several Alaskan organizations. While his objectives are primarily focused on producing high-resolution datasets, a bulk of the work hinges communicating with people from diverse backgrounds. Andrea’s passion for the visual arts has translated into 9+ years of development and relationship management experience at a broad range of cultural institutions. These include her current role as Director of New Business Development at ArtsFund, whose mission is to strengthen the community by supporting the arts through leadership, advocacy, and grant making. She has also contributed her talents to the Pacific Science Center, Seattle Art Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts, and Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.
