Karam Dana’s “To Stand With Palestine” wins 2026 Evelyn Shakir Nonfiction Academic Award
IAS faculty member Karam Dana’s book, “To Stand With Palestine: Transnational Resistance and Political Evolution in the United States,” has been named the winner of the 2026 the Arab American National Museum’s Evelyn Shakir Nonfiction Academic Book Award.
The book examines the changing discourse on Palestine in the U.S. and the reasons behind it. It also argues that Palestine and Palestinians have long been central to American political life and has engaged with and shaped understandings of race, exile, identity, and solidarity.
Professor Dana will formally receive the award in October in Michigan.
