Julie Shayne publishes review essay in Feminist Pedagogy
Dr. Julie Shayne wrote a review of two new novels about reproductive autonomy denied: “Enormous Wings” by Laurie Frankel and “Where the Girls Were” by Kate Schatz. Schatz’s “Where the Girls Were” is set in 1968 San Francisco, California in a home for unmarried pregnant girls. Frankel’s “Enormous Wings” is set nearly sixty years later in Austin, Texas and shows us post-Dobbs reality. Read Shayne’s review and discussion on the importance of using fiction in social science classes.
