Angelica Mendoza awarded 2019 UW Bothell Chancellor’s Medal

Angelica Mendoza, a double major in American & Ethnic Studies and Media & Communication Studies, has been awarded the 2019 UW Bothell Chancellor’s Medal. The award is an honor that recognizes graduating seniors who have achieved academic excellence and served as a consistent source of inspiration for faculty and students alike.

Mendoza has also been awarded the the 2019 Feminist Praxis Award from the Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies major. This annual award recognizes GWSS students (majors or minors) who demonstrate inspiring and impactful feminist praxis during the course of your studies at UW Bothell.

Angelica Mendoza is not only a graduating senior in IAS, but also works as Senior Student Assistant in the IAS offices. In addition to her double major, Mendoza is a triple minor in Diversity; Health; and Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies. She plans to continue to apply the skills and connections she has developed during her time in IAS to make positive impacts in her community. As a First Generation, Queer Chicana, Mendoza has dedicated her time on campus and in community spaces to empower other Womxn of color and allies to tell their stories and gain access to resources. Her current passion is her radio show/podcast Tremenda Diosa, where she speaks on hardships and celebrates being a Womxn of color in the Pacific Northwest.
