Curriculum
Students in the School of Educational Studies M.Ed. program choose between two concentrations.
The M.Ed. is a hybrid course structure model, with attendance on campus 1-2 nights per week and remaining course participation online.
M.Ed. Concentrations
Critical Educational Change and Leadership
The CECL concentration prepares educators in various settings to engage in a critical understanding of equity and in the work of dismantling systemically oppressive structures through social justice. This concentration is suited for anyone with goals of engaging the important work of increasing equity in a wide variety of educational settings.
This concentration does not provide teaching licensure.

English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The ESOL concentration supports educators who are seeking to support English Language Learners in K12 classrooms. Since this curriculum is centered on equity, second language acquisition, and teaching pedagogy, it
This concentration does not provide initial teaching certification or TESOL certification. However, currently certified Washington State teachers may earn the ELL endorsement to their certification.

Professional Seminars (10 credits)
These foundational courses are required for each of the concentration areas; 5 credits each.

Each course is 5 credits.

Electives (5 credits)
One 5-credit elective or two 3-credit electives (400 or 500 level course) from other core areas in the M.ED Program, classes offered by the School of Educational studies or other UWB Schools, or from the UW Seattle or UW Tacoma campuses.
