For faculty & staff
The Academic Success Coach program at UW Bothell is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all students can thrive. Aligning with the university’s values of access and transformative learning, we provide personalized academic success coaching tailored to each student’s unique background and identity. Through collaborative partnerships with faculty and staff, our holistic approach to coaching empowers students to overcome barriers, connect with campus resources, and develop self-leadership and advocacy skills.
Faculty and staff are instrumental to the academic success coaching program. Most students that seek academic success coaching services do so through staff and faculty guidance. You can do this by making referrals, promoting our services on your syllabi and Canvas courses, and distributing our marketing materials. You can also request a classroom or unit workshop and/or presentation about academic strategies and promoting ASC resources [link] that support student success.
These are the ways you can help students connect with ASC services:
Introducing us to your students
Making students aware of our coaching services helps us get the word out and ultimately helps them get what they need to succeed. Here are some ways you can make announcements about the ASC to your students:
Make an insert for your syllabi
You may copy/paste and alter the following insert in your Syllabus:

(TODO link resources)
To partner with an Academic Success Coach and arrange a presentation or a workshop, kindly complete the Academic Success Workshop Request Form.
*Please submit this form at least two weeks in advance of the desired workshop date.
Once you’ve submitted the form, someone from the Academic Learning Commons will reach out to you to discuss your objectives and the needs of your students. We’ll set up a pre-workshop meeting with you to discuss the best format of your workshop and solidify a day and time that fits your class schedule.
Refer a student
Students can be connected to Academic Success Coaching (ASC) anytime during the year, whether classes are in session or not. Refer a student to ASC for academic support catching up on missing assignments, absences, low participation, learning strategies, time management, and action plans for academic probation appeals, and petitions to repeat courses. We can offer support, strategies and connection to campus resources to help students get back on track.
If you have a student who could benefit from meeting with an academic success coach, refer them through EAB Navigate [hyperlink] or email us at successcoaches@uw.edu

- Alert Reason: You will need to search for “Refer: Academic Success Coach” from pre-filled options for this section.
- Association with Specific Course: Select the course you teach, or the course you have been able to observe the student’s issue.

Please be as detailed as possible in your description within the framework of [[FERPA]]. Staff and faculty with permission can view the alert and its comments.
You will be able to view referral updates via the case in Navigate.
