STARS Program
UW Bothell’s State Academic Rising Scholars (STARS) program is a small, supportive community that seeks to increase diversity and access for pre-major students interested in applying to and graduating with technology degrees by offering specialized support and programming.

The First Year & Pre-Major Program (FYPP) helps first- and second-year (or pre-major) students explore majors, connect with campus resources, and build the skills needed for academic and career success.
- Discovery Core Experience: The Discovery Core Experience (DCX) helps students build relationships, connect with campus resources and co-curricular opportunities, and develop skills for success at UW Bothell through courses that fulfill distribution and prerequisite requirements across many disciplines.
- Meta-Majors Pathways: Meta-Majors Pathways help undergraduates explore majors, understand their field of study, discover engagement opportunities, connect with related people and programs, and build transferable skills for careers, graduate school, and beyond.
- First year math & first year composition: These courses are designed to help students choose the right class for their path and develop the skills necessary to excel in upper-level university courses and beyond.
Data Analytics Minor
The interdisciplinary Data Analytics Minor builds computational, statistical, and interpretive skills to apply data analysis within a student’s home discipline, while also carefully considering critiques of and social context for such methods.
