Auditing Classes

To audit a class you must first register on MyUW and then contact the Office of the Registrar via email at, to select the audit grade option. You may select the audit option through the first 12 calendar days of the quarter. A $20 change fee is charged beginning the 8th calendar day of the quarter. Attendance in courses as an auditor is based on the consent of the instructor and space availability. You may not audit a course if you have not completed a prerequisite. Permission to audit is ordinarily granted for lecture classes only. You may not participate in class discussion or laboratory work and your registration may be cancelled at the discretion of the instructor. Audited courses are not recorded on your permanent record.

Auditors, except ACCESS program students, pay standard tuition and fees and must be regularly admitted and registered in the course. Although credits for audited courses are not listed on your transcript, they will be included in the billing on the fee statement. Audit credits count in the calculation of fees.

Courses audited may not be changed to credit registrations after Friday of the second week of the quarter.
