Casey Cummins is devoted to his higher education by obtaining an associate’s degree and transferred to UW Bothell to pursue health studies major and prepare for medical school. These experiences has given him a humble and altruism perspective of the health care needs for the underserved populations.
John Masembe wholeheartedly expressed his deep commitment, he says it best, and “my experiences reshaped my purpose in life. Health care goes beyond just a college major, it’s my calling. I want to be in a position where I can implement the kind of change that will touch lives and help overcome obstacles inflicted by health, race, gender, socioeconomic and even immigration status. I want to be a voice for people with disabilities and those that struggle within our public health systems.” In addition, in order for him to complete his major and support his family, he works. His major and skills qualified him to work at Swedish hospital and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which gives him a step up to his health career goals in the near future.
