willgerodt first graduate studies director

We are pleased to announce Mayumi Willgerodt, Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Studies, has accepted the offer to become the first Graduate Studies Director at UW Bothell. The search for a Director of Graduate Studies who could provide leadership for growing graduate programs and a culture of graduate education at UW Bothell began earlier this year.

Professor Willgerodt was selected after a rigorous internal search process by a committee that was chaired by Brad Portin, Dean of the School of Educational Studies, and included representation from across the campus. Professor Willgerodt will provide leadership for increasing the visibility of UW Bothell's Graduate programs and enhancing experiences for graduate students across all Schools. She will also serve as UW Bothell's liaison to the UW Graduate School, and will be a member of the leadership team for the Dean of the Graduate School, helping to insure that UW Bothell graduate programs are in line with and contributing to the development of UW policies related to graduate education.

In this new role, Professor Willgerodt will support faculty in developing new graduate programs, partnering with global universities, and creating alternative types of graduate programs such as certificates. She will also work with all of the Schools to increase the campus-wide graduate student culture, enabling students to participate in the broad intellectual community that characterizes UW Bothell. Professor Willgerodt will begin this role at the start of Autumn quarter.
