Dr. Guy Hamilton is a professor of practice in Biology and director of the Center for Biotechnology Innovation & Training (CBIT) at the University of Washington Bothell. He earned a B.S. in Microbiology from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Oregon, followed by postdoctoral research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. His career spans scientific research, higher education, workforce development and academic leadership, including serving as executive dean of workforce and STEM at Shoreline Community College. At UW Bothell, Hamilton leads efforts to build career-connected pathways into biotechnology by strengthening partnerships between students, faculty and the regional life sciences industry. His work focuses on expanding career awareness, developing industry-relevant and contextualized learning experiences and creating experiential opportunities that prepare students for careers in biotechnology and the life sciences.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Hamilton’s teaching interests include molecular biology, immunology, cancer biology and biotechnology, with an emphasis on connecting fundamental biological concepts to real-world applications. He is particularly interested in developing industry-relevant, experiential research courses in biomanufacturing that provide students with hands-on experience in experimental design, bioprocessing, data analysis and scientific communication while preparing them for careers in biotechnology and the life sciences.
