Community partnerships spawn salmon education for local park

Ash Putzke, a UW Bothell senior in Earth System Science and Biology, helped create new educational salmon signage and geocaching tours for Kirkland’s O.O. Denny Park as part of a long-standing partnership between UW Bothell and the Finn Hill Neighborhood Alliance. Working with faculty and the Collaborative for Socio-Ecological Engagement (CoSEE), Putzke transformed research on local salmon and wildlife into public-facing outreach that supports conservation and community engagement. The project highlights the power of student research, collaboration, and science communication to make a lasting local impact.
