2025: The Year in Review

2025 news highlights include faculty research, student innovations, alumni accolades — and new programs to serve students and the state.

The University of Washington Bothell campus is home to a dynamic community of students, faculty, staff and alumni as well as their many off-campus partners and supporters.

This year-end round-up highlights just a few news stories each month that illustrate the innovation, collaboration and mission-focused work of the regional-serving campus of the University of Washington.

Within the calendar year, the campus community celebrated the close of the 2024-25 academic year with Commencement in June when more than 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students received their UW degrees. The UW Bothell then marked the start of the 2025-26 school year with record enrollment and a variety of welcome activities that engaged thousands of returning students and initiated UW Bothell’s newest community members: 1,164 first-year students, 602 transfer students, 297 new graduate students and seven new faculty.

UW Bothell launched a number of programs in 2025, including a major in Developmental & Youth Studies and a minor in Cybersecurity. The University also developed a variety of cross-campus initiatives, such as a new center for socio-ecological engagement across the region.
