Prospective Students

NOTICE

Admissions to the Master of Arts in Cultural Studies program is paused.

The Graduate School has approved a temporary suspension of admissions to the UW Bothell Master of Arts in Cultural Studies (MACS) program. This pause does not affect enrollment for current MACS students. The School of IAS intends to reopen admissions in time for students to enter the program in Autumn 2024.

Admissions

As a cohort-based program, the Cultural Studies program admits students only for Autumn Quarter of each year.

Priority application deadline is February 1 annually (or the following Monday, if February 1 lands on a weekend).

Applicants who apply by priority deadline are given first consideration for admission to the program and for competitive merit-based funding.

Applicants may begin the application process at any time.  Applications will be reviewed once submitted and after February 1.

Priority deadline applicants can expect to receive notification regarding admissions decisions the first week of March.  Admitted students are asked to return their acceptance of offers by April 15 (or request an extension).

Cultural Studies will accept and review applications on a rolling basis if space remains open in the program after April 15.  Please inquire about space available in the program with the IAS Graduate Office
