Acting Associate Chair, Department of Computing & Software Systems

Min Chen, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Computing & Software Systems, School of STEM at University of Washington Bothell. Prior to coming to UW Bothell, she was an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Montana. Her research interests include multimedia big data analytics, multimedia data mining, machine learning, and their applications on interdisciplinary projects. She has published more than 90 refereed papers in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. She received the Best Demo Award from the 2021 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia Information Processing and Retrieval, the Best Paper Award from the 15th IEEE International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration, and 2015 IGI Global Annual Excellence in Research Journal Award. Chen is currently serving on the IEEE Computer Society (CS) Board of Governors, chairing the IEEE CS Technical Community on Multimedia Computing (IEEE TCMC), and is the associate editor of International Journal of Multimedia Data Engineering and Management (IJMDEM). She was the associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM), TPC co-chair for over 15 international conferences/symposiums/workshops, a steering committee member in two international conferences including IEEE ICME, and a key organizer for more than 20 international conferences.
