Dr. Marcel Gavriliu holds a Ph.D., M.S. in Computer Science, and B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Caltech. He spent over 20 years at Microsoft and Microsoft Research, most recently leading cross-disciplinary engineering teams on Project Premonition, an early pandemic detection initiative. His research spans applied AI, embedded systems, and human–computer interaction, with publications at ACM UIST (Best Paper Award), ACM UbiComp, and IEEE Visualization, along with multiple U.S. patents. His current interests include AI fundamentals, safety and alignment.
