Arkady Retik
Associate Teaching Professor
Dr. Arkady Retik earned a Doctor of Science in 3D computer-aided design from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in 1990. His MSc in applied mathematics and management and BSc in civil engineering are also from the Technion. During his postdoc in Manchester, UK, he developed a LISP-based knowledge-based system for cost-time forecasting. He subsequently taught computer applications as a senior lecturer and professor at the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. There, he established and led the Virtual 4D Intelligent Simulation group, focusing on time-based simulation of construction site design and management. In 2000, Retik joined Microsoft as a technical program manager in CoreOS, subsequently working in the developer, business development, and tech evangelism divisions, rising to the director level. Prior to joining UW Bothell as a full-time member in 2016, he co-founded one startup and served as CTO of another. He is a member of ACM and Computing For All, and has previously served as a member of PMI and IEEE.
