From Big City to Small Farm Town: My Experience Studying in Italy Thus Far! by Bethy Sansoni

For one UW Bothell student, studying abroad in Italy became more than an opportunity to travel. It became a chance to rediscover motivation, build meaningful connections and experience learning in a completely new way. From cooking traditional Italian meals to exploring the role of food in culture, every experience offered her a deeper understanding of the world beyond the classroom.

Throughout the seven week program, she embraced new perspectives, formed lasting friendships and gained confidence while navigating life in a new country. The hands on learning experience showed her that education can happen anywhere, whether in the kitchen, on a farm or through conversations with local communities.

Her story highlights how Global Initiatives helps UW Bothell students expand their perspectives, immerse themselves in different cultures and discover new ways of learning that continue long after they return home.
