Basic Needs Programs
Is balancing life, work, and college getting in the way of your success? Are you looking for support but aren’t sure where to go? The HaWRC is a one-stop hub connecting both UW Bothell and Cascadia students with on-campus and community resources. We are committed to advancing health equity for the UW Bothell and Cascadia College community, so all students are supported in their holistic wellbeing and to persist through college.
Our current basic needs programs include the Husky Food Pantry, Basic Needs Resource Navigation, and the Parenting Student Resource Program.
Husky Pantry
We understand that sometimes students go through a rough patch and need a little help. The Husky Pantry is a resource for all UW Bothell students who might be between paychecks or just need some extra resources to get through the week or month.
The Husky Food Pantry may be accessed by any UW Bothell student who is facing food insecurity. During open hours, students can shop for grocery staple items, as well as seasonal products, hygiene and toiletry items (all items are non-perishable). Students may stop by the pantry during open hours, or can request access at other times by emailing basicneeds@uw.edu.
FALL 2025 Husky Pantry Hours and Information
The Husky Pantry is located in ARC 120, in the HaWRC. The pantry will be open to students on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 12:00-5:00pm.
Basic Needs Resource Navigation
If you are looking for additional support to navigate challenges with housing, food, or other basic needs, you can make an appointment to meet in person or remote with a Basic Needs Resource Navigator. This can include helping determine if you may be eligible for public benefits programs like SNAP grocery assistance, or making sure that you know about our on-campus food pantries. We can help you apply for emergency funding sources or connect you with our partners at the United Way Benefits Hub program for housing navigation.
You may book an appointment with a Basic Needs Resource Navigator on EAB Navigate. You may also email basicneeds@uw.edu with any questions or for help making an appointment.
Hot Spot checkout from UW Bothell IT
Are you in need of internet for class work, but having trouble accessing it outside of campus? Hotspots may be available to check out based on financial need. Please make an appointment with a basic needs resource navigator to learn more about eligibility.
Parenting Student Resource Program
Are you a student who is also a caregiver to young children? The UW Bothell Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP) provides assistance to UW Bothell students to help supplement the costs of childcare for their children (newborn – 12 years old) while enrolled in an eligible program of study. Funding is released directly to the student (not the care provider) and may be used for full-time, part-time, evening, weekend, and emergency care. Students are required to submit proof of childcare expenses each quarter to maintain eligibility.
Eligibility Requirements
In order to qualify for child care assistance, you need to:
- submit a CCAP Application and submit documented proof of child care expenses each quarter.
- be enrolled at UW Bothell Campus in a fee-paying program of study,
- be the legal, physical, or custodial parent of the child,
- meet financial need requirements,
- use a care provider not related by blood or marriage to the student
How To Apply
Students interested in obtaining funding to cover the costs of childcare may do so by completing the steps below.
1. Complete the Childcare Assistance Application form for the quarter you wish to request funding.
2. If you receive financial aid, please complete a Financial Aid Revision Request Form. This form is used by The Office of Student Financial Aid to factor in the costs of childcare to potentially revise your financial aid award, allowing for additional funding without reducing other sources of aid. (Note: only one Financial Aid Revision Request Form is required each academic year.)
For questions or troubleshooting any application issues, please contact the Parenting Student Resource Program at basicneeds@uw.edu
Funding Information
Awards are limited to $1,500 per student each quarter. Funding will be awarded on a quarter-by-quarter basis based on availability of funds and student need. Receiving funding for one quarter does not automatically guarantee funding will be awarded in future quarters.
For questions about Financial Aid, please contact uwbfaid@uw.edu or 425-352-5240.
We continue to re-assess and evaluate our funding levels throughout the quarter trying to meet the needs of as many student parents as we are able.
