Appointments & drop-ins

The Learning Commons offers many flexible options to meet your needs, whether you prefer scheduled appointments or quick drop-ins. All units offer both in-person and virtual sessions (please note that the QSC is drop-in only).

In-person meetings take place in the Learning Commons located in room UW2-030 (see Learning Commons hours). Please check in at the Learning Commons front desk when you arrive. Zoom meetings can take place anywhere using your internet browser or in the Zoom app.

You can find more detailed instructions below on how to schedule an appointment or find a time to drop in.

Academic Success Coach (ASC)

The ASC is available by appointment both in-person and on Zoom. You also have the option to drop in during designated drop-in hours via the ASC Zoom room. Drop-in sessions are 15 minutes.

*Note: Drop-ins are best suited for shorter discussions, as there may be other students in the waiting room at any given time. If you want to have a chat that you think will require more than 15 minutes, please make an appointment on EAB Navigate (see below).

Quantitative Skills Center (QSC)

QSC sessions are available by drop-in only (in-person or virtual). View the full QSC tutoring schedule by course to see when coverage is provided for your class or subject.

How to drop in to the QSC

If joining in-person, please sign in at the kiosk computer next to the front desk, or ask our helpful staff for assistance. Settle anywhere; we have group tables, tables for two, computer stations and whiteboards. If you have any questions, please consult the front desk coordinator.

Joining online? We will offer the same support via Zoom as we do in the center, during the same hours and with the same tutors. See below for instructions on how to drop-in via Zoom:

  1. Join the QSC Zoom room using your UW NetID.
  2. The coordinator will ask you to privately message them your UW NetID in the Zoom chat.
    • Your NetID is the text before the “@” in your UW email address.
  3. Provide the course code (EX: STMATH 124) for the class in which you need tutoring.
  4. The coordinator will invite you to a breakout room and the first available tutor will join you as soon as possible.
    • Be aware that other students may be queued ahead of you for a tutor. The coordinator will inform you of approximate wait times.
  5. After the session, you can leave the Zoom room or return to the main room where the coordinator can add you back to the queue.
  6. Return as often as needed!

Email feedback service

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • There is a text box in which you are required to provide the guidelines for your assignment. Be sure to copy and paste all of the guidelines as they appear on the assignment description. The more we know about the prompt, the better we can help!
  • You will be asked to attach your paper. The only file format we will accept is .doc/.docx — if you need to convert your file to a .docx, go to cloudconvert.com.
  • Allow 48–72 business hours (hours that the WaCC is open) for a response. During mid-terms and finals, our response could take longer. Please plan ahead.

Not a current UW Bothell student? Not a problem!

The Learning Commons supports UW Bothell students, applicants, and alumni. UW Bothell Students can make appointments through EAB Navigate. Those applying to UW Bothell and alumni don’t have access to Navigate but can request an appointment by filling out this short form.

*Note: Unfortunately, we cannot support non-Bothell students including other UW campuses.
